The classic lean production method value stream mapping has its limits. On the one hand, networked value streams - i.e. value streams with shared resources - produce dynamics, for example through product variants. This means that static mean values are insufficient for measurements such as lead time, inventory and utilization, which are used to assess a production system.On the other hand, top-quality project management requires a simple and quick method to prepare, manage and present the recorded value stream maps.

This is why the ValueStreamDesigner adds tool-supported mapping and dynamic assessment of value streams to the classic value stream mapping, without giving up its advantages. It is the only tool that enhances value stream mapping by easy to use real dynamic simulation!The mapping procedure is the same as for the classic paper-and-pencil approach. After mapping of a value stream with the ValueStreamDesigner, the value streams can be dynamically modeled without any programming. As a result of a dynamic simulation run, the ValueStreamDesigner visualizes inventory levels, utilization, lead times and delivery performance over time.
