Two approaches – one goal

SixSigma as a philosophy – exactly like Lean Management – targets a good management of improvements. Whereas Lean places the main focus in the company on fast flow and structured problem solving through all employees by means of PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act), SixSigma elevates the scientific approach according to the DMAIC (Define-Measure-Analyse-Improve-Control) cycle to a paradigm, and targets the training of experts for the execution of structured projects on the basis of good moderation, data and statistical procedures. Both schools of thought have a mutual very central goal: Improved processes through the reduction of errors. And both are right with their approach!
The most important difference between both schools of thought may be said to be founded on Lean Management prescribing numerous guiding principles and solution concepts, whereas SixSigma is strictly oriented towards the measurable business administration utility of each individual project.
Approaching the problems at the root
From a pragmatic point of view both approaches supplement each other excellently. Many companies use tools and ideas from both worlds without realising it and are successful with them. Always when problem causes and complex interrelationships are no longer accessible through mere specialist knowledge and experience, when the issue is the stabilisation of technical processes and plants, then SixSigma can demonstrate its whole ability.
The Green Belt or the Black Belt – this is what the trained SixSigma’s are called – have the armamentarium and are equipped with many tools to dig very deep into the problem and bring to the surface what is hidden from view in a very focused way, so as to make better solutions possible. And this is useful for them.
Win-Win situation with SixSigma and Lean-Management
Our project work integrates the SixSigma approach completely without interface. Our consultants are trained as green or black belts. So they use the most effective tool to get to the root of your problem and to get it under control for once and for all.
